Hydrangea | 紫陽花
Below is the first in a series of collages composed of self-sourced images based on native and/or culturally significant botanicals. Many varieties of hydrangea are thought to have originated in Japan and bloom heartily during the rainy season of June and early July.
This work was created in 2019 while living in Tokyo, Japan. Each finished piece is composed of self-sourced collaged botanical illustrations, acrylic paint, and pencil on paper.
